Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Inherent to the performance of the Subaru Crosstrek is the innate sense of balance delivered by the combination of Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and symmetrical drivetrain. By distributing engine power across all four wheels simultaneously, Symmetrical AWD effectively doubles the traction capacity of the Subaru Crosstrek – compared to two-wheel drive vehicles. The result? Better grip when under acceleration for superior cornering control, sharper steering response, increased handling stability for better collision avoidance and superior confidence under all conditions, on all road surfaces and in all terrains.

The heart and soul of the all-new Subaru Crosstrek owes its vitality to the intersection of two irreplaceable forces – the iconic horizontally-opposed Boxer engine and Symmetrical AWD system. Designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than traditional engines, the 2.0-litre Direct Injection Boxer engine’s unique design delivers less noise and vibration to the cabin, while the low center of gravity improves stability, cornering, and traction with the road.

The robust and dynamic Subaru Crosstrek power unit has been tweaked to help reduce vibrations, in line with Subaru Crosstrek’s philosophy to embed a human-centred design approach to support superior passenger comfort.

A more lively Lineartronic® CVT

Driveability, engine response and enjoyment on all-new Subaru Crosstrek petrol models has been further improved with over 80% of components being revised, and by also increasing the gear ratio coverage range of the Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The linear nature of the transmission delivers a smoother ride, as it eliminates shocks when changing gears and allows the engine to run quieter.

The 7-speed manual mode in the previous Subaru XV has now been increased on the all-new Subaru Crosstrek to 8-speed paddle-shift manual mode*, in petrol variants, to improve overall driveability.

X-mode confidence

Activated at the touch of a button, X-Mode is standard across the Subaru Crosstrek range, enhances off-road driving adventures by delivering traction in response to the conditions. Once activated, X-Mode’s intelligent electronic system constantly monitors the traction available to each wheel and centralises the control of key components including the engine, transmission and brakes to help manage slippery conditions.

Choose the setting to match your road or trail conditions with the choice of two different modes available in the Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0R, Crosstrek AWD 2.0S and Crosstrek AWD Hybrid S. Select Deep Snow & Mud mode to tackle mud and snow or Snow & Dirt mode for slippery snow-covered roads, black ice, gravel and unpaved surfaces such as riverbeds and pebbles.

Intelligent hybrid technology

Get the best of both worlds with the all-new Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid variants. Powered by Subaru’s robust e-Boxer, these SUVs incorporates a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol Boxer engine in the front of the vehicle and an electric motor inbuilt within the rear of the CVT.

The responsive drive benefits from impressive low speed response and torque, while Subaru Motor Assist automatically combines both power sources under certain conditions to improve the driving experience. These hybrid models feature a high voltage (118.4 volt) battery located under the rear cargo floor.

Introducing sophisticated and stylish charcoal tricot seat trim with tetra embossing in the Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0L and Crosstrek AWD Hybrid L. The Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0R offers premium cloth in charcoal or grey for a contemporary and upmarket statement. While leather accented seat trim, in grey or black, has been added for modern luxury in the Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0S and Crosstrek AWD Hybrid S.

Dual zone climate control

For convenience, physical buttons for temperature and demister control have been added to the side of the touchscreen for easy adjustment. With other controls moving to digital buttons on the main infotainment touchscreen. And keep your cool and maintain the peace with dual zone climate control.

The all-new Subaru Crosstrek is the real deal. With styling as robust as its ability, Subaru Crosstrek features a striking design with sharp aggressive lines, emphasising its rugged capability and adventurous attitude. The dynamic body proportions are the result of a design process that put aerodynamic performance front and centre. From the way the side bodylines converge at the front and rear, to the way the air volume flows around and through the vehicle, every element has been considered to help reduce turbulence and aid with straight-line stability.

Excellent all-round visibility

Active safety starts with excellent driver visibility, something which is underpinned by the all-new Subaru Crosstrek’s expansive forward vision. By maintaining the Subaru XV’s impressive A pillar design and side upper field of view, excellent vision credentials have been retained. In addition, the all-new design has improved the forward lower field of view, to ensure the driver has a clearer picture of the road conditions and any potential obstacles ahead.

Bold exterior design

The all-new Subaru Crosstrek’s owes its robust and aggressive styling to the new black body cladding, which includes pronounced wheel arch flares. The bolder front bumper, with its angular styling and large, inset fog light housing, hints at the SUV’s crossover versatility. At the same time, the side cladding assists with aerodynamic improvements due to the air vents behind the front wheel arches that release pressurised air to reduce drag.

Eye-catching wheel design

With no less than three-wheel designs available, all-new Subaru Crosstrek hits the road in style. The Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0R, Crosstrek AWD 2.0S and Crosstrek AWD Hybrid S feature an 18” dark grey alloy wheels with bright machined face. Crosstrek AWD Hybrid L variants feature a 17” dark grey alloy wheel with bright machined face and the Crosstrek AWD 2.0L feature a dark grey painted 17” alloy wheels. To keep you moving Crosstrek Hybrid variants are equipped with a puncture repair kit, while all other variants feature a temporary spare wheel. All variants also feature a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Lighting the way

In a first for Subaru, the high-grade headlights in the all-new Subaru Crosstrek feature Cornering Lamps which increase visibility when turning left or right at intersections by illuminating the direction of travel. Bright LED headlights across the range feature enhanced light output performance, when compared to previous generation Subaru XV. The headlights include an auto off function, while the Subaru Crosstrek AWD 2.0S and Crosstrek AWD Hybrid S also boast self-levelling headlights.

Safety Systems

Intelligent Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist

Subaru’s latest generation EyeSight® Driver Assist system is standard across the Subaru Crosstrek range and includes enhanced functionality and collision avoidance features. This preventative system uses high-resolution stereo colour cameras, combined with a wide-angle monocular camera, to recognise potential dangers and obstacles within its vision – up to 130 metres ahead (depending on the conditions). The system can help warn the driver to take action, or even automatically intervene. Featuring the latest Subaru EyeSight® camera design, the lens hood sits further forward towards the windscreen on Subaru Crosstrek, for less obstruction to the field of view.

Subaru’s Driver Monitoring System*

The Driver Monitoring System (DMS)* in the all-new Subaru Crosstrek constantly monitors the driver’s attention, to detect whether their attention is waning or if they are starting to fall to sleep, to help reduce the chance of accidents.

Using near infrared LEDs and a camera, the vigilant DMS watches the driver for signs of fatigue and distraction and can deliver an alert warning to prompt them to refocus on the road ahead.

Subaru’s Vision Assist is advanced technology that gives you greater awareness of the world around you.

Panoramic 360 Degree View Monitor*

The all-new Subaru Crosstrek features a new wide-angle camera equipped to the driver’s side door mirror, in addition to the front, passenger side and rear-view cameras common in Subaru vehicles. This produces a new top-down or birds-eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings, by combining images from all four cameras. While in ‘park’ position the driver can toggle between eight different viewpoints, at 45 degree increments, around the vehicle to ensure any obstacles are identified before taking off.

Blind Spot Detection

Using radar sensors located in the rear bumper, this feature can alert the driver to vehicles in its blind spot via a warning light displayed on the external rear vision mirror.

Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB)

For a greater peace of mind and safety when reversing, sonar sensors on the rear bumper can detect obstructions and alert the driver if a risk is detected. If the driver doesn’t take action or apply the brakes, the RAB system can brake automatically to help avoid or reduce the severity of a collision.

Subaru Global Platform

Drive to the beat of your own drum, knowing Subaru Crosstrek delivers a unique level of protection that is underpinned by the Subaru Global Platform, including the ring-shaped passenger safety cell. This safety cell cocoons occupants to absorb and direct the impact of a collision around the cabin, rather than through it. The chassis structure has also been engineered to include crushable zones, absorbing collision energy to better protect passengers. The inclusion of nine SRS* airbags, includes two new airbags, the front passenger seat cushion and far side airbag, to help reduce the possibility of serious injury in the event of an accident.
