Subaru turns heads in Tokyo: Two STI Concepts and Wilderness prototypes anchor "Drive the Subaru Difference" at Japan Mobility Show 2025

Subaru stole the spotlight at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 with an exhibition themed "Driving the Subaru Difference", guided by the brand's philosophy of human-centred manufacturing to deliver "Enjoyment and Peace of Mind".

The exhibit brings two experiential scenes to life – Performance and Adventure – each designed to deepen the emotional connection with customers.

Taking centre stage is the world premiere of two STI concept models – Performance-E STI and Performance-B STI – that bookend Subaru performance for the next era, while the Trailseeker, Forester Wilderness and Outback Wilderness prototype underscore the brand's go-anywhere spirit.

Performance Scene – STI Concepts that Frame Future Subaru Performance

Performance-E STI concept (World Premiere, BEV)
A forward-looking performance vision for Subaru’s next generation. It pairs dramatic, athletic proportions with aerodynamic efficiency and everyday practicality, wrapped in design cues that evoke Subaru heritage. Inside, a driver-friendly layout and spacious cabin set the stage for intuitive, exhilarating responses enabled by innovative technologies.

Performance-B STI concept (World Premiere, ICE)
A purist's counterpoint that blends advanced performance and power with real-world usability. By flexibly drawing on Subaru’s core assets – horizontally-opposed engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive – it broadens the pathways to the joy of driving, inviting more customers into the performance fold.

Adventure Scene – BEV Crossover and Wilderness Duo

Trailseeker prototype (Japan Premiere)
The second model in Subaru’s global BEV line-up, uniting precise BEV control with crossover practicality – equally at home on weekday errands or weekend escapes.

Forester Wilderness prototype
Unique bumpers, expanded wheel-arch cladding, and exclusive LED fog lamps toughen the look, while enhanced off-road capability and functionality build on Forester’s core SUV strengths.

Outback Wilderness prototype
Stays true to Outback’s ethos of harmonising with nature, adding further off-road capability and functionality to lift its tough, rugged character for the great outdoors.

Scott Lawrence, Subaru Australia's General Manager, said: "This year's Subaru exhibition isn't just about sheet metal. It's about energy. Two worlds, Performance and Adventure, designed to capture both the thrill of the drive and the freedom of the journey. This exhibition showcases Subaru’s relentless pursuit of engineering excellence and offers a window into future possibilities whilst also maintaining clear line of heritage in every vehicle."
