all-new, all-electric Subaru Solterra suv arrives in Australia

Subaru's first ever battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Subaru Solterra, has officially made its debut in Australia.

Representing the next evolution of Subaru’s craftmanship, technological innovation, and steadfast dedication to safety and reliability, the Solterra redefines the essence of adventure and exploration.

Built on a newly developed BEV-dedicated platform, the e-Subaru Global Platform optimises the innate advantages of electric vehicles while preserving Subaru's distinguished handling and dynamic performance, delivering an engaging driving experience. The combination of electric powertrain, low centre of gravity, and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive enhances the Subaru driving experience, staying true to the brand's legacy of delivering unparalleled enjoyment on the road.

Designed to seamlessly blend rugged versatility with modern aesthetics, the Solterra arrives in Australia in two Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive variants, AWD and AWD Touring.

Powered by a robust 71.4kWh lithium-ion battery, capable of generating a maximum power output of 160kW and 337Nm of torque. In accordance with Australian Design Rules (ADR81/02), which states that vehicles imported into Australia should be homologated with a NEDC claimed range figure, Solterra has a NEDC test range of 485km1.

Both variants will come standard with a five-year service plan, five-year roadside assistance, carpet mat set, cargo tray and a 2kW (8 Amp) AC charging cable with 10 Amp wall plug.

The all-new Solterra features both AC and DC charging capability. Charging from 0-to-80 per cent via 150kW DC charger takes approximately 30 minutes, whereas via a single-phase 7kW AC charger 0-to-100 percent takes approximately nine and a half hours and 0-to-100 percent charge via a 11kW three-phase takes approximately six and a half hours2.

Embodying Subaru's core DNA of durability, versatility, practicality, and safety, the Solterra features an impressive ground clearance of 212mm3 and Dual Mode X-Mode with a new Grip Control function, helping ensure confidence on diverse terrains.

Inside the cabin, passengers are treated to a premium and comfortable space, enhanced by an array of cutting-edge infotainment technologies.

Boasting a central 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen, complemented by wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity4, drivers and passengers can effortlessly enjoy entertainment throughout their journeys. Furthermore, a high-quality 6-speaker system for AWD variants, or an immersive 10-speaker Harman Kardon® sound system5 for AWD Touring, assist with an exceptional audio experience to make road trips even more enjoyable.

Additionally, a 7-inch digital Multi-Information Display (MID) unit displays important information about the vehicle, along with trip information and driver assistance system alerts.

A panoramic glass roof exclusive to the AWD Touring spans both the front and rear seats to provide additional natural lighting inside the cabin, contributing to an overall airy feeling.

Subaru Australia's Managing Director, Blair Read, said: "We are excited to welcome the Solterra to the Subaru model range as it delivers the renowned driving feeling and confidence that Subaru owners demand.

"The core Subaru DNA of trusted engineering, diverse-terrain capability, class leading safety and excellent driving dynamics means Solterra drivers have outstanding control and capability on all kinds of roads and conditions. Range figure are laboratory test results only based on standardised testing conditions which measure, energy consumption and range. Actual real world range results will likely be less and to the extent that they are less will depend on a combination of factors including but not limited to load, traffic conditions, driving style, type of journey, vehicle configuration, battery age and condition, use of vehicle features (such as heating and air conditioning), as well as operating, environmental and climate conditions. It is for comparison purposes only and not intended to be an accurate indication of what might be achieved in the real world.

2. Charging times will vary depending on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the output of the charger being used, starting battery charge, charging equipment, ambient temperature, battery state as well as the age of the battery at point of use. As a result of these factors, charging times may therefore vary significantly.
